    The Latest from Rose
We moved into our new home.  If you haven't come by yet and want to see it, come to my site and take a tour.  Tim took the pictures one night and annie put them up so everyone could see our new place.

    The Henry Home

    Lastest from Mark
I had taken down the Peikko Christmas pages.  I just put them back up.  You
    can find them at http://www.geocities.com/etelamaki_home/xmas.html

I don't have any genealogy pages up anymore.  I was making some new ones but
never put them up.  I took the old ones down.

I was able to trace your Havens line back here to Tazwell County, Virginia.
The Havens then connected with the Carter Family at Tazwell, then to the
Clay Family.  The Clays go back to England and Wales.  The oldest Clay is in
1470.  His name was John Claye.  He was a Baron of the Coal Fields and was
Knighted by Edward IV, King of England.

The Clay family came to America and landed at Jamestown, Virginia in 1613 as
one of the earliest settlers.  John Clay (one of our Clay Grandfathers) was
a Captain of Grenadiers in the British Army.  One of our later cousins was
Henry Clay.  He was a Congressman and also the US Secretary of State under
President John Quincy Adams.  One of our other Clay cousins was General
Green Clay, who was in the War of 1812.  Between the Carters, Clays, Havens,
and the French families, they were all over Virginia.  Of course the
Henson's and the Scarboroughs's were here too.  I have seen it said that our
Webbs were here as well, but I haven't seen any convincing evidence yet.

I would bet that the Carter Family is the same as the famous Maybelle Carter
Family, as they did come from Virginia, and I believe they also came from
Tazwell County.  Tazwell is on the border with Kentucky.

I found out that Nancy and the Kids are related to George Bush.  Nancy is
the 30th Great granddaughter of Richard I, Duke of Normandy and George Bush
is the 30th Great grandson of the same.  Our new President, George W. Bush
is the same generation as my kids, the 31st from Richard I of Normandy.
They also go back to Charlemagne through their grandmother, Judith of
Brittany (Bretagne).  She was the wife of Richard I.  Richard was a Norman
who descended from the Norwegian Viking called Rollo or Robert.  Robert was
the First Duke of Normandy.  Rollo descended from the Norweigian kings.  The
Norweigian kings came from the ancient Finnish Kings.

You don't hear much about the Finnish Kings but they did exist from the time
of the Romans and maybe even before.  The earliest one was recorded about
200 AD he is known in the Finnish Kalevala and in the Scandanavian sagas.
His name was Fornjotr to the Swedes and Ymir to the Finns.  Its kind of
interesting to find out that the Kings of England, and also Nancy's family
originally had ties to the Finns.  Go to this link to find out more about
    the Finnish Kings.  http://home.talkcity.com/LibraryDr/jumala/HISTORY.HTM
and here for more history http://ky.hkkk.fi/~k21206/finhist.html and go here
for a Finnish story by Aaron Shepard.

So when you read the stories of Peikko and the his Christmas tale, you might
find out that this story just might be more REAL than you think.  There
really was an Etelamaki village in Finland.  Santa does come from Finland.
Gnomes come from Finland.  Their is a Green and a Mean Santa in some
stories.  The ancient Finns did use different kinds of magic, to include
potions of mint and strong drink.  The reindeers come from Finland.  The
ancient Finns did retell tales of the past and dance around the fire.  The
Finns and later the Scandanavians do have annual Yule festivals.  And
Finally, one of the Finnish kings was named Frosti !  How convenient ! to
    round out the Christmas theme.

The Latest from Tammy's:  by annie
Tammy and Chris are finally in their dream home in Dayton.  Their house is beautiful.  It is one of the historic homes in Dayton.  It has 2800 square feet, four bedrooms, (Molly's is at the very top with a secret room as well), a parlor, library/den, formal dining room, and living room and a wine cellar done in stone.  The wood work is absolutely beautiful.  I'll have Tammy write and explain all the details sometime about the woodwork in the home because I'm clueless when it comes to all that.  The kitchen is one to die for.  The cabintry itself is like a work of art.  I know they will be very happy here and will have fun decorating it in the years to come.  To see some of the home, you can go here. Tammy's New Home She has pictures Tim took on one of the trips of some of the rooms and it will give you an idea of the house.  I know some of you don't like old homes, but this one is great.  Once she gets all the furniture she wants in it, she will undoubtedly let it be included in the historic tour they do every year.  I think she said it was in the tour around 95 and can be in it every five years.

The Latest from Vernon & Anita: Submitted by DiDi
    TOO MUCH ROGAINE

Jan First 2000 came around the corner,
Anita found Vernon sitting Like little Jack Horner.
Instead of a Christmas pie, He had his thumb on the top of a very bald head.
He did not say,"What a good boy am I!"
    Instead he started to cry.
"What a very bald head I have! My oh My!"

Anita ran out to the corner drug store as fast as she could.
When she returned, In her hand she had a bottle of Rogaine.
She poured it on his head and massaged it in.
Hair started to grow just like she planned.
He went to bed and soon fell asleep.
When he awoke in the morning he ran to the mirrow to take a peep.

He started to chatter. Anita ran to see what was the matter.
What she saw gave her a terrible fright.
A long red haired monkey swinging from her ceiling light.
"How did this monkey get in here?" she asked.
"Quick Lori grab me a bat!"
The monkey jumped down from his place so high,
    Don't hit me! Tis I!
    Tis Ol Vern!" It cried.
    This is such a pain.
Dear Anita you used too much Rogaine.

    The Latest News From:  annie
Well, we spent the weekend in Moscow and Pullman.  Tim  had a phone interview with a company in Pullman, so we decided to check the area out.  We loved Moscow, which is just on the otherside of the border in Idaho.  There was one very charming little area, but then Tim saw an area around the company and has pretty much decided he'd like to live close to it so he could come home for lunch everyday.     We are waiting to hear if they want him to come in for a personal interview.  If they do, they will bring us down for a weekend and then we'll decide.  Tammy and Chris are waiting to hear about the inspection report on their home in Dayton.  They should know this week.

The Latest News From:: Mark from DiDi
Hi I am at work right now, even though its the Colombus Day holiday. Your picture of SD Webb did not come through. But I did get the one of Dad and Gilbert. No that was not me with Clinton. Things are busy as always. Lots of work. I haven't even been home much, except to sleep. I will be in Lyon, France next week Oct 16-19. I will be making a speech at a conference on international terrorism. I started school again this past weekend. I will be working on a Master's of Science degree in Strategic Intelligence. It will be a lot of hard work, but worth the effort. It will take two years to complete. I still do genealogy when I get the time. I recently found some of Nancy's lines back to England. The Parmelee's came from England and also the Bere's (Beers). I also have the Scarborough line all the way back to England. Almost all of our English lines go back to southwest England. I am getting close to finding Isaiah Webb's brothers and parents. I believe I have found his brother Benjamin born in 1792 in Servier County, TN. This Ben then lived in Bedford County, TN the rest of his life. Of course Isaiah was born in 1796 and lived in Bedford County until about 1850 or so. It seems that they may be related to a Soloman Webb (possible father for them), but I haven't confirmed that. Well I have got to go. See ya. Mark
