My Prayer

Oh God, I lift up those who are grieving the loss of their loved ones that you would give them strength and courage to face the days ahead, and that you will comfort their hearts.  I pray for their healing and ask that this Memorial Wall will be a place they can find some comfort and hope as they share with one another their pain.

I pray for those who have died at the hands of men who chose to strike out at the innocent in an attempt to bring terror, havoc and destruction to our nation, that their death will not have been in vain. I ask that instead their death will be a constant reminder to us how vulnerable we are and how very precious life is,  and that it will instill in each of us the resolve that we will not rest until terrorists throughout the world are brought to justice.

I pray that men and women everywhere, beginning with our nation, will put aside our differences and show love and acceptance to one another regardless of the color of our skin, the religion we practice, or our political preferences.  Let this tragedy be a reminder to us that most of our differences are not that important in the larger scheme of things, but how we treat each other can make all the difference in the world...and as we've seen in such a horrendous way, it can even mean the difference between life and death.  Help us to embrace the differences and uniqueness in our fellow Americans and of those around the world and not be threatened by them.  Help us to realize that we can hold to our faith and our beliefs and allow others that same privilege.

Help our nation to unite as we come together with the common goal of ending the terror.  Give our leaders wisdom and direction, as well as strength, courage and determination to not give up until the work is done, and then when done, to continue to work together in harmony for the good of this nation we have been blessed to be a part of.

And I ask that you, oh God, will bless America once again as we turn our heart toward you.  Amen!
