The Night Before Christmas 60's style

Twas the night before Christmas, Way back in the 60’s
A nice quiet town in the heart of Mississippi
The woman and young uns’ had already turned in
As I watched the news, like most of us men

Then all of a sudden I heard someone shout
So I got me my shotgun and boldly went out
Colored lights were a’flashin, music a'blarin’
My mouth had dropped open and I couldn’t stop starin’

For up on my rooftop, the scene was so wild
I swear an old man was dressed up like a flower child
His clothes were all flowery, his beard long and white
He was dancing around, it was quite a sight

Toys filled a sleigh that was all psychedelic
I wondered where he found such a dazzlin’ ol' relic
I asked him what he was doin’ way out here
He and his sleigh and those funny lookin’ deer

He just looked at me and he said, ‘peace, man’
And held up two fingers like those Californ-i-ans
And I proudly said, “We don’t want hippies round here!”
He said, “Don’t sweat it man, it’s just once a year”

He tossed me a flower, and bid me farewell
But with all those lights flashin’, it was real hard to tell
Then He boarded the sleigh and flew through the night
And as I picked myself up, I said, “Out of sight!”
